    windows Jazz Jackrabbit 3

    Version

    1 download

Jazz Jackrabbit 3 (alternatively called Jazz Jackrabbit 3D: Adventures of a Mean Green Hare) is the cancelled game of the series. Spearheaded by Dean "Noogy" Dodrill (an animator for Jazz Jackrabbit 2) and coded by World Tree Games, it was being developed for the original Unreal Engine technology in 1999. As the game's alternate name implies, Jazz would have venture into the realm of 3D for the first time. The game was planned for release on PC and PlayStation 2. Development of the game was ceased part way through in May 2000 as Epic MegaGames was unable to find a publisher. Since then, the alpha has been leaked on to the internet. Besides Jazz, other characters such as Spaz and Lori were intended to be playable, but in the alpha, only Jazz is playable. Following the events of Jazz Jackrabbit 2, Jazz Jackrabbit and his wife, Eva Earlong, settle down in Carrotus Castle and become parents. Devan Shell, the main antagonist of the series, kidnaps their children, taking them into an alternate universe via the time machine from the previous game. Jazz Jackrabbit 3 is a third-person shooter with platforming and adventure game elements. The mouse is used to aim and shoot, while the keyboard moves Jazz around the world. Jazz can fire his weapon, or charge up a more powerful shot. Jazz's arsenal can be expanded using coins collected to purchase new weapons and combine them with Elemental "Dream Cells" to create various weapon effects. In the alpha, only Fire and Ice Dream Cells can be acquired, and usable with two guns (the standard Blaster and the Gizmo Gun). When Jazz moves around in a level, he leaves a trail of footprints on the ground. Unlike the previous installments, Jazz Jackrabbit 3 has no levels. Rather, it is divided into sections, similar to Super Metroid. At specific points in a map, the player can travel back and forth between these sections. Each new area that is visited is prefaced by its name.

    dos The Orion Conspiracy

    Version

    2 downloads

Divide by Zero’s third adventure release is an uneven space opera that has interesting puzzles and plot– marred by a huge amount of gratuitous violence and prafanity that may turn many players off. Played in the third person through an extremely linear path, Orion’s plot revolves around your character’s investigation of the death of his son at a research station in deep space. Other, more farfetched (or derivative) plot elements come into play later in the game. Much of the backstory is provided in a nifty little graphic novel packaged with the game, entitled “Devlin’s Story”. Other information, as well as comprehensive installation notes, are included in a well-presented game manual. Even with these aids, however, it was difficult to free up enough low DOS memory to run the game with sound card support. Orion does not identify how much free memory it requires, so there may be some trial and error in fine-tuning the game for best operation. To allow the game to run in less conventional memory, several command-line switches are suggested, which apparently display the screens at a slightly-lower resolution and offer automatic (but slow) scrolling at the screen edges. The point-and-click user interface performs satisfactorily, with hotspots identified on the screen and possible object interactions displayed with the right mouse button. This “giveaway” of information on how you can act upon objects may make the game puzzles rather predictable and easy. On the other hand, you may find yourself spending the majority of gameplay merely moving your character from one station destination to another – often a very time-consuming process since no “zip” mode or shortcuts have been provided and access points seem arbitrarily restricted from each other. We’ll suspend our disbelief about the amount of gravity on a 10-acre asteroid.

    dos Cosmic Spacehead

    Version

    0 downloads

Cosmic Spacehead is a decent arcade adventure drawn in the illustration style of the 1950s (TV's The Jetsons comes to mind). Bright graphics, a simple point-and-click interface for the adventure elements, interspursed with enjoyable arcade romps will keep players' attention as they explore, with Cosmic, the alien landscapes. The plot is wacky enough: to obtain a hero's welcome and much-needed cash, alien Cosmic must return to Earth and photograph the previously unexplored planet to document his visit. Cosmic Spacehead is an intriguing mix of adventure and arcade action gameplay. The majority of gameplay is an interactive arcade adventure which takes Cosmic across the many bizarre locations of his three main stops on the way to Earth: planet Linoleum, Detroitica a vehicle factory on a lone asteroid, and a space station. Each destination is divided into many smaller play areas where Cosmic can interact with other characters, manipulate and use objects to further his quest. True to Codemasters' expertise as makers of fun action games, Cosmic Spacehead includes many action sequences: traveling between the adventure play areas involves the successful completion of a wide variety of 32 arcade-orientated action games, ranging from astro-car racing, robot attacks, to asteroid fields and many more. Unfortunately, the adventure portion isn't as good: the solutions to most puzzles are all too obvious, and often require items that you can only get by random luck-- definitely not a good game design. This flaw limits Cosmic Spacehead's appeal only to action fans who are interested to try out the adventure genre, or adventure fans who like a lot of action in their games. Die-hard action and adventure fans should look elsewhere for their fill.

Note: This is the full version of Minecraft so you still need a Mojang account to login and run the game. Here's a fully working version of Minecraft that can be run from a thumb-drive if you are like me and want to be able to take Minecraft with you anywhere. It works by adding the data folder to the portable folder with the help from a .bat file. You can even run resource packs with it and connect to realms. The launcher downloads the latest version of Minecraft so there should be no problem. Screenshots are taken using the portable version, playing 1.11.2 on my own realm. Install Follow the steps below to install. Download the .zip file and unpack it. Rename the folder to anything you want Run the .bat file that is located inside the folder. This will update the .exe file inside the Bin folder and start the launcher Run the bat file every time you want to launch the game. This makes sure that files are saved in the portable folder. There you go. Take MC with you and play it with your settings and resourcepacks from anywhere.

    Alien Incident

    Version

    0 downloads

Alien Incident is a fun, unassuming science fiction adventure that is great for young adventurers due to its family-oriented plot and easy puzzles. You play the role of a teenager called Benjamin who's visiting his uncle's house at Halloween. His uncle, a home-grown scientist, attempts to activate his latest invention, the wormhole spawner. Amazingly enough, it works and rips open a wormhole to another galaxy, transporting an alien spacecraft to Earth. The aliens kidnap your uncle and, surprisingly, your mission is to rescue him (and the world, but you knew that already). Strategy Plus sums up the game's appeal quite nicely as follows: "GameTek's Alien Incident must have been developed with the fledgling gamer in mind, and in that sense seems to be going in the right direction. Along with its clever animation and interesting storyline, it reinforces to the new or younger gamer the idea that fun, challenging gameplay doesn't have to include violence.... The tone of the game is well established very early and nicely maintained throughout. You cannot hope to rescue your uncle and thwart the plans of the aliens without some obstacles, so there is, of course, the usual gathering and intelligent deployment of assorted objects for puzzle. On the down side, Alien Incident seems to crash and lock up every now and then. But even when this happens, the game has an automatic recovery system. For instance, if the game crashes for whatever reason, the next time you start the game you'll find it has performed a "disaster save," and asks if you want to start where you left off. Seems like they may have been expecting a crash or two, eh? Parents will want to add this game to their shopping lists, as the story is fun and easy to follow and the interface intuitive enough to pick up with little or no coaching. Recommended primarily as family fare, this non-violent diversion should prove entertaining to Mom and Pop, as well as Billy and Sue Ellen… assuming they can withstand the occasional technical problems." James Bond: The Stealth Affair

    Version 1.0

    0 downloads

James Bond: The Stealth Affair is a fun spy adventure that was originally released in Europe as Operation Stealth in Europe without the James Bond license-- a fact that explains why the game's plot doesn't follow any Bond story. That doesn't mean that the original plot here is bad, though. In fact, it is intriguing enough to be a Bond movie material: a top-secret stealth fighter has been stolen from a US base, so it's up to you to track down its location and bring it back. Of course, the fate of the whole world rest on your weary shoulders... The Stealth Affair uses a competent interface where you construct sentences from a small list of verbs such as "USE," "TALK," etc., although it is a bit confusing: "USE" and "OPERATE" are used slightly differently although they are synonyms, for example. Puzzles are fun and are neither too hard nor too easy; and since most of them involve using cool spy gadgets such as a passport falsifier, fans of spy novels will have a great time with the game. With an interesting plot, fun puzzles, and great graphics (upgraded to VGA in this US release), The Stealth Affair is highly recommended for every adventure gamer. Too bad that James Bond license Interplay paid for didn't seem to help the game's sales... although it becomes an amusing gaffe in the game: James Bond apparently had enough of Q and decided to work for the CIA instead.

Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade

    Version

    0 downloads

When LucasArts (then LucasFilm Games) released an adventure game based on blockbuster movie Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade in 1989, an action game based on the same movie was concurrently released, but never racked up as much sales or recognition as its adventuring brethren. This failure (by Lucas' standards) isn't so surprising, however, when fans get over the initial excitement and start to scrutinize the game behind the hit license. This game may be fun for a while, but soon the fun of watching Indy use his trademark whip wears off, and fans are left with a marginally above-average platform game where each new level looks suspiciously like the last. A very frustrating difficulty level also means that only diehard Indy fans will be compelled to finish this one. DOSBox This requires the DOSBox emulator. You can get it here.

Throw a tough guy in prison sans backstory and have him kick the asses of sadistic guards, brutal inmates, the occasional alien, and finally the effeminate warden. The developers at Starbreeze know enough to break up the action, parceling out bits of adventuring, stealth, and balls-to-the-wall shooting and punching along the way. And just as the action varies, the tone jerks from funny one moment to brutal the next. The voice acting features a cast of actors like Vin Diesel, Michael Rooker, Ron Perlman, and Cole Hauser, and it makes a difference. Clever dialogue is rare enough in gaming, and well-acted clever dialogue is even rarer. It just goes to show how much added value a big publisher like Vivendi Universal brings to the table. Vin Diesel himself plays the part perfectly, and the acting in general is above the regular quality you see in action games. Riddick is riddled with shifts in tone and action that keep the pace snappy and engaging. It’s even got a completely over-the-top distinct finale that makes it worth playing to the end. It’s only unfortunate the end comes much too quickly, offering little replay value outside of the aforementioned commentary mode. But as a video game it’s certainly better than anything you’d expect from a washed up B-movie license. One can only wish most movie-to-game adaptations could be this good.

    Ace Ventura

    Version

    0 downloads

Despite featuring some hilarious voice acting and excellent animation, Ace Ventura is ultimately little more than an average adventure game that's disappointingly short and easy. GameSpot has the lowdown on this one: "Dude, pull my finger. Did that make you laugh? Then you're probably going to like Ace Ventura. Borrowing from the Ace Ventura cartoon series, the game features all the same gags, mannerisms, and obnoxiousness from the world's famous pet detective - the kind of stuff that's so stupid, you have no choice but to laugh. And it's the humor that keeps the game afloat. The gameplay you've seen a dozen times before. Once again, Ace is on the case, this time traveling the earth looking for a lost creature. Masters of click-and-solve games will be able to finish the entire game in no time flat. In fact, a lot of it is so simple, you'll figure out that the game is partly designed for young children. The objects and scenes have that bright, bulky Fisher Price quality. And if you ever actually get stuck, a special button on Ace's watch delivers audio clues that take out most of the guesswork. There's even a setting that lets parents edit out some of Ace's choice phrases, although even without the parent setting on, Ace's language barely goes beyond third-grade bathroom humor. The various puzzle-filled scenes are sporadically broken up by arcade-lite action. Slightly challenging tasks like swimming through the murky waters of the deep, avoiding trash and oil slicks, and getting in a basic laser fight are a nice way to mix things up. Although Ace Ventura doesn't claim to break new ground, it possesses one nice feature that all developers of endlessly-clicking adventure games should take note of. When you click on an object that you don't need, Ace pipes up with such witty things as "Yeaaaahhhh righht!" and "not enough upper body strength." That alone saves hours out of wandering around, which is usually nothing more than absolutely frustrating. All told, it's Ace's lowbrow humor that makes this a fun game to play. As in a lot of adventure games, long, drawn-out stories are told in between each level. But refreshingly, the scenes are actually entertaining - a good thing, since there's no way to skip them. You'll likely cruise through this title with ease, but you'll have plenty of fun getting there." The humor, albeit sophomoric in some places, and hilarious animations make the game well worth the huge download, although expert adventure gamers will find the game disappointingly easy.

    windows Myst 4

    Version

    0 downloads

There is more live action video in this game than in all of the other Myst games combined. As the game opens, you’ll encounter Atrus, portrayed for the fourth time by Myst co-creator Rand Miller (who said after Riven in 1997, “I will never play Atrus again”). In true adventure game fashion, he needs you to help align sine-wave patterns on a video monitor. Oh no! Something explodes! He asks you to restore power to the area and rushes out leaving you in a state that Myst fans will remember well – alone and surrounded by lots of mysterious gadgetry. Each Myst game pushed the limits of photo-realism in computer games, if more or less by trickery. By pre-rendering the visuals with such extreme detail that no video card at the time could hope to run in real-time, the Myst series have given us games that looked both wonderful and extremely static. That same level of jaw-drapping artistry mixed with pre-rendered trickery powers Myst IV, but gone is the static slideshow-style gameplay that plagued previous versions. The game still retains the familiar node-to-node navigation system, but everything around you makes it feel like you’re in a living, breathing 3D fantasy world. You can look anywhere with the free-floating camera – up, down, left and right – and are graced with the most beautiful visuals seen in any point and click game. You can watch the trees as they gently breeze in the distance, the clouds as they move slowly, or catch glimpses of little insects buzzing around you. It’s all very vibrant, and it looks superb. windows Myst 3

    Version

Better navigation, looks and smarter puzzles make up this sequel to Riven. The story picks up after the events in Myst, Riven, and the Myst-based novels (The Book of Atrus, The Book of Ti’ana, and The Book of D’ni). Atrus, the beleaguered Age-writer from the previous games, welcomes you, the player, to the age of Tomahna, where he’s currently working on a new age for the D’ni, a race of people whose world was destroyed in the novels. They’re the folks who figured out how to write Ages in books in the first place. You enter the fray when some stranger bursts into Atrus’ study, grabs his new Age (Releeshahn), and disappears. The biggest improvement over the previous Myst games is the full 360-degree view of the environment. Rather than display a single postcard, you can move the camera around and examine your newly animated surroundings. It’s not exactly comparable to the freedom you get from a 3D game, but it’s always good to at least feel like you can look around a corner. The wonderful rendered screens and videos more than make up for the lack of movement, sporting enough visual detail to surpass Riven. Certain puzzles require an attention to detail from previous areas, while others simply require mechanical or spatial thinking. The puzzles are hard enough to make you think, but not so impossible that you have to resort to a hint book to get past them. Each of the Ages contains puzzles that relate to the nature of the Age, and very few of them are completely arbitrary – most times, the puzzle fits in to the concept of the game. And unlike Riven, doing something on one side of an island doesn’t affect something on the far side. Very rarely will you have to leave an area in order to get past an obstacle. However, the game is still very much a Myst game at the core — a pretty slide show with logic puzzles. There were quite a few people who really tried to play Myst and found it about as entertaining as watching paint dry. These people won’t find much excitement in Myst 3: Exile, but for the fans of the series it should be a real treat. Gameplay

It’s undeniable that Myst has both in equal measure, as it’s better to describe it all as an experience than a game. You start off Myst completely clueless, with nothing but a note from Artrus and his wife Catherine guiding you. This note leads you to a hidden chamber next to the dock, where you discover another secret message. The story slowly unfolds, through Artrus’ writings you learn about the man and his creation of the Ages. Artrus suspects that one of his sons is destroying the books, and so he imprisons both of them. You find the books in the library and, assuming you’ve got Quicktime working correctly, find a video message from each son proclaiming his innocence, but whom do you believe? There are also missing pages scattered throughout the Ages which you have to retrieve, and all manner of puzzles to solve. In one Age, for example, you have to guide water through pipes to trigger a series of switches. As in previous games made by the Millers, Myst isn’t completely linear. You get a feeling of exploration as you’re snooping around the place, and you can even travel through various Ages before you decide which puzzle you want to tackle. Myst was truly ambitious and highly successful for many reasons. First it was one of the first games that shipped exclusively for CD-ROMs, a risky but in the long run rewarding undertaking. The best-selling CD-ROM of its time, it lead the way for an army of copycats to follow the same route – the infamous Myst clones, which were so numerous that they fielded their own gaming category. The game was released on almost every console that had the memory to run it, popularizing point and click adventures like never before. Gameplay

Pros: Fairly successful inclusion of Olde English dialogue Magical kingdom is well developed, including fairies, wizards, druids, goblins and more! Non-linear structure that allows tasks to be completed in any order, and allows user to control their movement through the kingdom. Mini-games are a part of the main plot. Cons: Graphics are very pixelated which sometimes makes it difficult to distinguish among items on the screen. A Tale of Two Kingdoms is a fantastic adventure game made in the style of such venerable classics as King's Quest. The ancient kingdom of Theylinn is beset by enemies both from within and without. Within the castle walls, nobles vie for the old King's favor, and not everybody is happy with the sole heir to the throne, princess Rhiannon. Danger! Everything seems to be good in the fair land of Daventry. Unfortunately, such is not the case for everyone. Take young Gwydion for instance; it seems that his parents perished while he was an infant and he has since been raised by a wizard named Manannan. However, Manannan is no wise and kindly magician; he is a cold, cruel and abusive individual who treat Gwydion as nothing more than a personal slave. Luckily, things are about to change for the boy. One day, he wakes up to hear a feminine voice calling his name. Sure enough, he even spots a mysterious woman in the distance beckoning him. He doesn’t know what exactly that’s supposed to mean, of if she was even real. Nevertheless, when the wizard informs him that he intends on leaving the house to go on a journey, Gwydion makes his choice. He sets out to finally escape from Manannan, see who that woman was, and hopefully uncover the truth about his parentage. Another Remake to Another Classic King’s Quest III: To Heir is Human marks the third chapter in the illustrious King’s Quest franchise. First released in 1986, it offered a slight change of pace and a fresh perspective in that it gave players a whole new protagonist to play. Just like the first two games, it has also been remade as King’s Quest III: Redux, and was hence given a wide variety of new features and updates to please both old and new fans alike. Features updated 16-bit graphics for a beautiful retro-themed experience. Improved MIDI musical soundtrack. Fully voiced text and dialogue. Animated portraits with lip-synched speech. Revamped spell system that doesn’t require a physical game manual to use. More concisely written story that fleshes the characters out more and fills in the plot holes. Magically Enhanced Despite the change in protagonist, King’s Quest III retains the series’ many traditions, including its complex puzzles, whimsical nature, sense of humor, and emphasis on exploration. Furthermore, Gwydion has a few tricks up his sleeve that he’s picked up on during his years of living as a wizard’s servant. New spell-casting system! Gather ingredients around the world to cast a variety of magical spells that will help you in your journey. New timed challenges. Try and do as much as you can while your master is away. Be mindful of your actions. If Manannan finds out that you’re up to something, it will be the end for you! Don’t Miss the Call King’s Quest III continues the saga, preserving all of the franchise’s strengths while mixing in a few new innovations. At the same time, it also provides a good starting point for beginners of the series. Nevertheless, just like the remakes of its two predecessors, King’s Quest III: Redux is completely free. With so much to offer at so little cost, there’s no reason to pass this quest up!
