DOS This requires a DOS emulator. You can get it here. War Inc. is a real-time strategy computer game developed by Optik Software. It was published by Interactive Magic on August 31, 1997. It was fairly unusual at the time in its incorporation of a rudimentary stock market, placing the player directly in control of research and development, and the ability to completely customize units by using a variety of components. War Inc. (Project Airos in Australia and Germany) received an overall rating of 66% from GameRankings from three different review sites. While it was panned as being "mediocre" for not meeting its potential by GameSpot, Game Revolution praised it for "flexibility to create a nearly unlimited variety of units".

    Fallout 1

Note Requires ISO emulator. Not tested on Windows 10. During the 1980s, Interplay left its mark on computer role-playing through a classic called Wasteland. Universally hailed for its then superior gameplay, Wasteland threw players into a dreary, vast, post-apocalyptic world where mutants, blood-thirsty gangs, and radiation-scarred madmen roamed the land. It’s then probably no surprise that Interplay decided to revisit this desolate but attractive setting with Fallout. And the result is one of the finest role-playing games around. During the introduction, we learn that the player character is one of the “lucky” few who have survived inside a massive nuclear bunker. Yet, after seventy years of isolation, time is beginning to run out for the vault-dwellers; the chip that controls the Vault’s water purification system has given out and supplies are running desperately low. With only 150 days left before the remaining water runs out, the leader of the Vault asks you to journey into the hostile wastelands to find a replacement chip. Gameplay

Dark Colony is an underrated real-time strategy game in the same vein as StarCraft or Warcraft 2. Its commercial failure is perhaps unsurprising, given the deluge of RTS games in 1997 and the fact that Dark Colony does not offer anything that is dramatically different from RTS bestsellers. Still, there are some innovations, however small, that are worthy of recognition, in addition to the fact that the game is a good starting choice for newcomers to this genre who are feeling a bit overwhelmed by the frantic action of StarCraft. Dark Colony is set on Mars in the far future. Humans have discovered a new, valuable energy source called Petra-7 on Mars. The bad news is that a group of wandering aliens, who call themselves Taar, feel that the humans are intruding too much into their potential new home. In Dark Colony, you can either represent the humans, or the aliens (called "Greys" by the humans) and help them establish their new home and rid the planet of those pesky humans. SSI definitely took the approach "more is better" with Dark Colony, as the game is more or less a typical RTS, except there are dozens of maps, many multiplayer options, and additional features such as nighttime missions, and the ability to fight indoors and underground. The game is quite easy to get into and enjoy, though, as Adrenaline Vault observes: "The game was easy to get into and start playing. The tutorials offered a brief but informative glimpse at the important parts of the game. The game was really set up to include lots of combat and little of anything else (i.e., resource management). The missions were fairly interesting and usually featured variations on the same theme: kill the other guy. The multiplayer portion was pretty standard. I liked some of the wars, but there are a lot of real-time strategy (RTS) games on the market that are much better suited for multiplayer play than this one. The manual was pretty sparse and had only basic information and a minimum amount of detail. Of course, unless you've never played an RTS game before, you'll pretty much be able to pick up everything without a problem." Dark Colony also introduces some new features not commonly seen in RTS, such as the ability for your units to advance in rank, similar to Fantasy General. They can also be awarded medals for exceptional performance in battles, and this will improve their abilities. The only major downside is that the units are basically the same on both human and alien sides, and there is no truly race-specific unique units that make gameplay different. As such, you may not be tempted to play as the other side once your campaign is over, although the flawless multiplayer play may change your mind. Gameplay

    Grand Theft Auto

    Version

The player is free to do whatever they want, but have limited lives upon doing so. The player can gain points by causing death and destruction amid the traffic in the city, or steal and sell cars for profit. To get to the large target money required to complete a level, players will usually opt to complete at least some missions to build up their multiplier. Some criminal acts have an inherent multiplier; for example, using a police car for running over people doubles the number of points received. If the player is arrested then their multiplier is halved. Unlike in later games in the series, the player can be killed, or "wasted", in one hit without body armor. If the player is wasted then they lose a life. In both cases the player loses their current equipment. If the player is wasted too many times, they must restart the level.

    Version

    12 downloads

KKnD Xtreme can be described as the humorous cousin of C&C. While it is not all that different from Westwood's blockbuster, the fantastic humor and good unit balance makes the game much more deserving of attention than its sales figures would suggest. If you love RTS games with a campy sense of humor and don't mind graphical similarities to C&C, KKnD Xtreme is well worth your time. Highly recommended!

    Chasm: The Rift

    Version

    1 download

This game’s essentially a run-and-gun action frenzy through several thematically-distinct worlds, where you blast aliens, fetch key card, open doors, then blast some more aliens. Some nonsense about time travel and inter-dimensional monsters offers the perfect excuse for these sudden changes of scenery, and the variety is almost well worth going through. You start off within an industrial setting that’s somewhat reminiscent to Quake, then move to Egypt, then to Medieval Europe, then to a sci-fi world. All of these locations have their own gamut of thematic monsters and weapons, and each setting features an end boss. All of the monsters, items and weapons are poly-based, texture-mapped 3D models, making Chasm one of the better looking non-3D accelerated games available at the time (albeit bearing a very familiar dark-brown color palette). The characters, in particular, look good enough for close-up briefing sequences (complete with lip synchronization… sort of). Enemies come in various shapes and sizes. The initial blend of industrial and sci-fi levels will have you face predictable gun-totting robots and jetpacking sentries. Later Egyptian and medieval themes will have undead zombies, axe-wielding executioners, vikings and many other assorted mutants gracing the screen, their tally numbering fifteen types in total. Blood

    Version

    0 downloads

Playing the role of a resurrected gunslinger out for revenge, Blood successfully copies what made Duke Nukem 3D great and places the action in a sort of hellish version of the world, one ruled by dark gods, insane cultists, vicious demons and loinclothed loons who fling their arms in panic. Other than the poor loinclothed guys who always get caught in a crossfire, Blood throws in everything from pesky rats and spiders to giant stone gargoyles, with a great many drawn from famous works of horror. Most common among them are axe-wielding George Romero-style Zombies and machingun-totting cultists that spout insane babble. The trigger-happy Cultists will cause the most trouble, as their lightning-quick reflexes and sharp aim make them awfully challenging to kill. Other enemies up for spillage is the Bloated Butcher, Phantasm (a spooky ghost with a scythe), Hell Hound and four different boss characters. Blood’s most novel enemy is the disembodied hand that chokes the life out of you. Pressing ‘Use’ repeatedly will force it off. You can even here the hand utter ‘I’ll swallow your soul‘ (Evil Dead). There’s not a whole lot of innovation here except for the almost negligible alternate firing modes. Each weapon has a secondary attack that delivers a heavier blow but costs more in terms of ammunition and accuracy. The double-barreled shotgun, for instance, can fire both barrels instead of just one, and the Tommy Gun can spray lead sideways for a fast horizontal sweep. The Aerosol Can fires continuously but can also be turned into a makeshift Molotov Cocktail and thrown into a busy crowd of zombies for a good undead roasting. Gameplay

    windows Shadow Warrior Classic

Lo Wang is a bodyguard for Zilla Enterprises, which has control over every major industry in Japan. However, this has led to corruption. Master Zilla, the president of the Zilla Enterprise, is planning to conquer Japan using creatures from the "dark side". When he discovers this, Lo Wang quit his job as a bodyguard. Master Zilla realizes the threat that Lo Wang poses and sends his creatures to battle him. Later on in the game, Lo finds that Zilla's minions have killed his old mentor, Master Leep. Following his master's dying words, Lo must avenge his death. The game ends with Lo Wang defeating Master Zilla, who commands a samurai-like war-mech. However, Zilla is able to escape Lo Wang, promising a future encounter. Shadow Warrior is a first-person shooter similar to Duke Nukem 3D as both use the Build engine. Players navigate the protagonist, Lo Wang, through three-dimensional environments or "levels". Throughout levels are enemies that attack Lo Wang, which can be killed by the player using weapons such as a katana. Shadow Warrior also features puzzles that must be solved to progress in various levels. Lo Wang's arsenal of weaponry includes Japanese-themed weapons such as shurikens—which were "likely [to] be dropped in favor of a high tech fun weapon" in development and a katana, and marked the first appearance of a sticky bomb in an FPS, an idea popularized later by Halo. It also includes guns such as Uzis, a riot gun that fires shotgun shells, and the Eraser-inspired railgun (Lo Wang frequently mentions "Time to get erased! Ha ha!" when picking up this weapon). In addition, the head and heart of certain enemies can be used as weapons. Shadow Warrior was an ambitious game, containing many features not seen until later first-person shooter games. For example, the game features turrets and various vehicles (such as tanks) that the player can drive around freely in, climbable ladders, and multiple firing modes for various weapons. Development of Shadow Warrior began in early 1994 as Shadow Warrior 3D, and preliminary screenshots were released with Hocus Pocus in May 1994. George Broussard in 1996 stated: "We want Shadow Warrior to surpass Duke Nukem 3D in features and gameplay and that's a TALL order." To this end, more tongue-in-cheek humor was added to the existing game in order to better match the style of the popular Duke Nukem 3D. Shadow Warrior was published in North America by GT Interactive Software on May 13, 1997. At E3 1997, an area in the GT Interactive Software booth was dedicated to Shadow Warrior. 3D Realms released the source code of the Shadow Warrior engine on April 1, 2005 under the GNU General Public License. Due to the timing of the source code release, some users initially believed that it was an April Fools joke. The first source port, JFShadowWarrior, was created by Jonathon Fowler and released a day later on April 2, 2005, including Linux support and improvements from his JFDuke3D source port. As of January 2015, there have been no new versions of JFShadowWarrior since October 9, 2005. Shadow Warrior for iOS was released on December 19, 2012 by 3D Realms and indie developer General Arcade.

    windows Postal

    Version

Kill anything that moves. That, in a nutshell, is the entire purpose of Postal, the shooting game published by Ripcord Games. The basic story is very simple. One day you wake up, walk out of your house with a weapon in hand, and begin blowing away every single living thing you can set your eyes on. It doesn't matter if the victims in this quiet little sleepy town of Paradise, Arizona are policemen, medics or innocent bystanders (and there are hundreds of them), they are all targets for your rampaging, murderous character. Killing indiscriminately, you travel from one (town location) map to another, leaving behind a bloody trail of bodies and carnage. With a large number of weapons to choose from and an assortment of victims to blast your way through, Postal is action filled from bloody beginning to violent end. The game's single-minded purpose notwithstanding, Postal comes with potential for sound and level editing so you can personalize it and allows for multiplayer mayhem with up to fifteen other players. Featuring inhumane, cold blooded killing and no purpose other than to lay waste to as many fellow human beings as possible, Postal truly stands in a zone of its own -- a killing zone. Be forewarned, Postal is definitely not for the squeamish or moralistic purist. Postal gameplay

Get it here The Settlers 2 is a good follow-up of the first game, with more possibilities, really incredible graphics and animations and a very low technical requirement when it was released (worked on a 486DX33). Some of the weaknesses: no real multiplayer (you had to play on a split screen with two mouses and share the keyboard) and only two speed for in-game time, making you wait just idling for 5 minutes sometime. Anyway, a top game remade in 3D in 2006 (The Settlers II 10th Anniversary). The Gold edition contains the original game and the Mission CD, which contains a new campaign, 12 new maps and an editor. Version

If you can't stand sight of blood and the idea that you won't play on the good side is frighting, the game Blood Omen may not be for you. On the other side, if you consider fun to hide from light, fear of water, garlic and sharp stakes, you like the night and innocent people, then Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain is a perfect game for you. Blood Omen is the saga of knight Kain. When Kain has been murdered he gets to hell, where he meets Necromancer and he gives Kain a "fair" offer - either go to hell, or has one other option - to become a vampire. This brings its own advantages, but also disadvantages. However, since the hitch up for revenge is stronger, Kain wants to find his killers, so he opts for immortality and sharp teeth. And here begins the game itself. Wakeing up in your crypt, you search the surroundings, you can find basic spells and set off on a journey for revenge. Gradually, you will naturally find out that it's not going to be as easy as you imagine and Necromancer has other plans with you, rather than your revenge. The whole story is very complicated, but the game is excellent in telling it. However, during the game you have to throw all morality away, because you're not som good guy here, you are going to massacre everything that comes to your way, regardless of innocence of each character. But even this aspect makes this game so different from the others and it is a great mix of action and RPG games. Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain gameplay

DOSBox This game requires DOSBox emulator. Get it here Hard to find any flaw in Theme Hospital, the game was critically acclaimed and had a lot of success. Graphics are cartoonish and very well animated, diseases are totally hilarious (especially the descriptions) and a really funny multiplayer mode: Up to 4 players can compete with their own hospital, close to the others. Everyone share the same community of sick people and the goal is to make more money than the others. VIP patients are proposed to everyone simultaneously, the quickest player to accept will get it. You may also refuse difficult patients and send them to another hospital to overload them, but should they manage them, they will make more money! When buying a new square of land, a bidding competition starts, allowing you to make your competitors to spend more. You can also create a salary war to debauch the employees of the other hospitals. Another vicious weapon: "dirty bombs" you can send to your competitors. They take some time to blow up, but if the player spot it, he can send it to another hospital and so on until it blows! The lost vikings 2

    Version

    0 downloads

After escaping from Tomator in The Lost Vikings, Erik the Swift, Olaf the Stout, and Baleog the Fierce have lived joyous and fruitful Viking lives. Then one day, after returning home from a fishing trip, the Vikings get captured by Tomator again. Tomator then calls upon a robotic guard to send them into the Arena, which unfortunately falls short when a system failure happens. During the blackout, the three Vikings dismantle the robot piece by piece and wear its parts on their bodies, granting them new abilities. The three Vikings are then accidentally sent through time once again. Equipped with the new robotic gear, Erik, Olaf, and Baleog must journey through each level to find their way back home. Along the way, they befriend a werewolf named Fang and a dragon named Scorch, both of whom assist them in their quest. The Lost Vikings 2 is a side-scrolling platform adventure in which the player alternates control of three of the five playable characters (the game predetermines which characters are available in any specific level), guiding each of them one at a time (though control may be swapped from character to character at any point) from a designated start point in each level to the exit, collecting three specific items along the way (The game offers a two-player cooperative mode in which each player simultaneously controls one character and is allowed to change control to the third, unused character at any point). Every level is designed such that each character must contribute his unique skills to help the other two through to the end. Similarly, to finish the level, all three characters must reach the exit point with the three items in possession. The characters each have three health points which they can lose by getting hurt by enemies or by falling from great heights. Should any character run out of health points, he dies; gameplay will then continue with any remaining characters, but the level becomes unwinnable, and the player will eventually have to restart the level and try again (the game offers unlimited continues). Each character has the ability to carry and use items — mainly keys, bombs, and food (which restore health points) — as well as a unique set of skills: Erik now has turbo boots which allow him to jump much higher than before and can smash certain overhead walls with his turbo jump. The helmet also allows him to swim. Baleog has a bionic arm which can smash enemies from a distance. The range is somewhat limited compared to his arrows from the first game, but the bionic arm also allows Baleog to swing in the air using special hooks and to grab some items inaccessible to others. Olaf can release gas that propels him upward, giving him limited aerial range as well as the power to destroy certain floors. In addition to his hang-gliding abilities, he can also shrink and squeeze through tiny gaps. Fang can jump, climb walls by clinging to them with his claws, and slash enemies from close range. Scorch has a fireball attack which damages enemies and can trigger certain switches. He can also fly until he gets exhausted, at which point he can glide softly down, like Olaf.
