    windows Vivaldi

    Version

    0 downloads

The Good Fast Lot’s of settings Fully customizable The bad No sync of bookmarks, passwords or anything between devices. Vivaldi, which is based on the same technology as Google Chrome, is a fully customizable open source browser. It's not as fast as some of its rivals, but its developers are adding innovative new features with every release (ever fancied controlling your lighting from your browser?) and everything is fully customizable. Not only can you choose your own shortcuts, alter the main menu design and specify the control panel placement, Vivaldi also lets you arrange browser tabs, letting you place the tabs at the top, bottom, left or right of the screen. You can also hide them altogether and use shortcuts instead. If you're prone to keeping lots of tabs open, Vivaldi lets you stack and group them to make navigation even easier. Save your favourite tabs after a session, ready to reload any time. A built-in browser notification function makes it easy to create memos. Vivaldi then takes a screen shot of your desktop and adds it to your memo automatically. You can use Vivaldi to access the Chrome Web Store, and you can use Chrome add-ons to expand Vivaldi with a host of extra functions. Vivaldi lets you build your own browser that suits the way you like to browse the web, and the whole process is broken into manageable steps that even a complete newcomer could follow. First, you're prompted to choose a color scheme and tab position (along the top, the bottom, or either side), which will determine the overall look of Vivaldi. Positioning tabs along the side might seem odd, but the extra space means there's room for a preview in each one, making them easier to navigate. Once that's done, you're ready to start setting up your homepage. This can be any website you like, or you can use a tool called Speed Dial to create a set of tiles for quick access to your favorite sites. It's much like a Favorites menu, but more convenient. Bookmarks and downloads are accessible via a narrow navigation bar on the left called the Panel, which can be collapsed using a little switch at the bottom. Here you'll also find a notes tool that works much like a text-only version of Evernote, enabling you to jot down thoughts while you browse. You can also add site links to the Panel, which open alongside the main browser window. This is a particularly good way to keep an eye on your Twitter feed. At the bottom of the Panel you'll find Vivaldi's main settings icon. As you'd expect, the options here are extensive. Some of the most significant are: keyboard, where you can define your own shortcuts; mouse, for setting gestures; and privacy, including phishing protection. If you're on a slow connection, you can toggle images off using the small picture icon at the bottom left. The double arrow icon beside this offers a range of filters and effects. Some of these (like highlight focus and the CSS debugger) have a clear purpose, whereas others (like the 3D effect that skews the page to create a 'turning' effect) are just for fun. Finally, visiting vivaldi://extensions to access to the Chrome web store, where you can install any add-on built for Google's web browser. Extension icons will appear to the right of the browser's search box. The whole process is surprisingly engaging, and you can easily spend hours tweaking and customizing Vivaldi. If you're tired of the usual web browsers and think you could do better, Vivaldi is well worth a look.

    windows Opera

    Version

    0 downloads

With so much attention focused on Chrome, Firefox, and Edge, it would be easy to forget that Opera even exists. But it does, and the fact that it has been somewhat overshadowed by three big rivals is no reason to think it's not worth checking out. Opera is based on Chromium, but the look is different to just about everything else on the market. Making use of the fact that monitors are widescreen, Opera maximizes the amount of vertical space it has to display web sites by featuring a sidebar to the left of the screen to provide access to bookmarks, history and other options, freeing up the top of the screen. The sidebar is also home to shortcuts to apps such as Facebook Messenger, Telegram and WhatsApp, which is a very nice touch. There's an integrated news reader, and Opera can be expanded through the use of extensions. There are thousands of add-ons available, and you can even use Chrome plugins if you can't find a native extension that does what you need. Open a new tab and the customizable Speed Dial provides access to a search function and your favourite websites. The look of the browser is pleasingly customisable too, thanks to a dark theme option and the ability to change background images. User experience You don’t have to spend long using Opera to wonder quite why it is you don’t hear more about the browser – even if it is a little quirky. There are no traditional menus needed for daily use: click the bookmarks button, or history, and it loads in a browser tab. There is a menu that's somewhat hidden under the Opera button but you'll probably never need it. As with Firefox and Chrome, you can synchronize bookmarks and settings between computer – or even the mobile version of the browser – and there are so many extra features (ad blocking, VPN and data compression to name but three), it puts other browsers to shame. Everything feels wonderful speedy and slick as well, and the pop out video player that lets you keep browsing while a video continues to play – and remains visible – is just brilliant. Truly inspiring stuff.

  7. The latest version of Overwatch is taking shape on the PTR and available for testing. Highlights so far include a new map – Busan in South Korea – a new way to search for cosmetics in the Hero Gallery, and some long-awaited TLC for Reinhardt’s ult, Earthshatter. Changes elsewhere are pretty minor. Birgitte’s shield bash now knocks down and gets knocked down by other charging targets (such as Reinhardt), and you should find you’re able to more precisely tune the relative aim sensitivity while zoomed as snipers Ana and Widowmaker. Scintillating stuff. Naturally, there’s the customary cavalcade of bug fixes, though one is somewhat more significant than normal: the ‘fix’ to Roadhog’s damage calculation may, in practice, prove to be a nerf of some substance. Usual caveats apply: patch notes are subject to change, and what you see here is merely the state of the PTR as it currently stands. Not all of these changes will necessarily hit the live game, and many more may be added before the patch is applied. Read on for all the details. OVERWATCH PATCH 1.28 RELEASE DATE There’s no official release date for patch 1.28, but PTR cycles tend to last two to three weeks and to end on Tuesdays or Thursdays – though the regularity with which Blizzard adhered to this rule of thumb in the game’s early days is fluctuating a little lately. September 5 or 12 would be a reasonable guess. OVERWATCH PATCH 1.28 BUSAN Overwatch’s latest map is set in Busan in South Korea, home of star gamer and selfie-taking mech pilot D.Va, and you can play it right now on the PTR. It’s a Control map divided into three distinct locales: Sanctuary, Downtown, and MEKA Base. The Sanctuary is surrounded by an ancient temple, beautiful gardens, and historic architecture. Downtown is a bustling metropolitan zone, featuring a busy PC bang, flashy karaoke bar, and light rail station (watch out for the train). MEKA Base is a military district, home of the MEKA squad, South Korea’s frontline defence against the ‘gwishin’ variety of Omnics that plague the city. That means this is where D.Va lives, and you can check out her quarters. Busan was unveiled at Gamescom alongside a new animated short starring its most famous resident. Personally I think the Reinhardt short is still the peak, but none of these have disappointed. OVERWATCH PATCH 1.28 HERO GALLERY FILTER On the PTR, the Hero Gallery has a new ‘Filter’ feature, which enables you to view all Overwatch’s cosmetics in a new, more easily navigable way. You can customise your search for cosmetics by category (including seasonal events, or whether they’re from the Overwatch League), rarity, and whether they are unlocked or yet to be collected. OVERWATCH PATCH 1.28 HERO UPDATES ANA Biotic Rifle Increased the precision of the Relative Aim Sensitivity While Zoomed slider. This can be found under Options > Controls > Hero > Ana. BRIGITTE Shield Bash Now knocks down and gets knocked down by other charging targets (e.g Reinhardt and Doomfist). REINHARDT Earthshatter Will now consistently hit enemies near walls. Will no longer hit enemies that enter the damage cone after the ‘wave’ has passed that area. Will no longer damage enemies behind barriers blocking it, even if the barrier is later dropped or destroyed. Will always travel up inclines and around the payload. Developer Comments: “We’ve given Earthshatter a complete overhaul to combat inconsistencies with its performance. These changes will make Earthshatter’s behavior more predictable and effective.” WIDOWMAKER Widow’s Kiss Increased the precision of the Relative Aim Sensitivity While Zoomed slider. This can be found under Options > Controls > Hero > Widowmaker. OVERWATCH PATCH 1.28 GAME BROWSER AND CUSTOM GAMES FFA DEATHMATCH Mercy now begins matches with her Caduceus Blaster equipped. Blizzard World is now available to play in Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch. 1V1 MYSTERY HEROES Mercy now begins matches with her Caduceus Blaster equipped. OVERWATCH PATCH 1.28 BUG FIXES GENERAL Fixed a bug that prevented Torbjörn Armour Packs Created statistic from updating if the ability landed directly on a friendly target Communication Wheel. [PC] Fixed a bug that caused a delay in selecting options on the Communication Wheel when cycling left using a mouse. BRIGITTE Fixed a bug that caused Brigitte’s Shield Bash movement to be interrupted when she hit Symmetra’s turrets. D.VA Fixed a bug that allowed D.Va to escape the map if she used Call Mech while standing on Mei’s Ice Wall. HANZO Fixed a bug that caused Dragonstrike Arrow size to be larger than his other arrows. MEI Fixed a bug that caused Mei’s Cryo-freeze to block the line of sight for Mei’s Blizzard. MERCY Fixed a bug that allowed Mercy to gain ultimate charge from using her damage beam on attacks that cannot be damage boosted. REAPER Fixed a bug that prevented Reaper’s Shadow Step from going on cooldown if he was interrupted. ROADHOG Fixed a bug that prevented Roadhog’s alternate fire now calculates falloff damage correctly. REINHARDT Fixed a bug that sometimes prevented Reinhardt’s Earthshatter from landing if he was launched into the air during its cast. SOMBRA Fixed a bug that prevented Sombra from destroying her Translocator if she was stunned or hacked. SYMMETRA Fixed a bug that prevented Sombra’s Hack from canceling Symmetra’s Photon Barrier placement. Fixed a bug that caused Symmetra’s teleport UI to persist after being eliminated. WIDOWMAKER Fixed a bug that caused Widowmaker’s scoped shots on hero placed objects to count against her Scoped Weapon Accuracy statistic. WRECKING BALL Fixed a bug that allowed Wrecking Ball’s Piledriver to deal damage twice if he slid off the environment during its duration. Fixed a bug that allowed Wrecking Ball’s primary fire to continue working if it was disabled in custom game.
  8. The ability to purchase loot boxes for real money in Overwatch and Heroes of the Storm will soon be disabled in Belgium and The Netherlands. To comply with the Belgian Gaming Commission (BGC), Blizzard has announced it will no longer sell loot boxes for real money in the country for Overwatch or Heroes of the Storm. Players will still be able to purchase the crates using in-game currency earned through playtime. The BGC declared randomized loot boxes in games were to be considered gambling back in April. The government body specifically called out Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, FIFA 18, Overwatch, and Star Wars: Battlefront 2. In May, it recommended to the Belgian minister of justice publishers of games with loot boxes should be prosecuted. Blizzard said on the Overwatch forums it was “surprised” over loot boxes being equated with gambling, and it does not “share the same opinion.” In the end, it decided to “comply with their interpretation of Belgian law.” A date for when the changes will go into effect has not been provided, but will be “implemented shortly.” The above text was taken from vg247.com
  9. Multiple video game event organizers are being forced to rethink their security measures in the aftermath of the tragedy in Jacksonville, Florida. Formerly the realm of friendly, relaxed gatherings in social settings like bars and stores, competitive gaming may soon have to take a more proactive approach to protecting its players. Last Sunday, a man opened fire at a Madden tournament in the GLHF Gaming Bar in Jacksonville Landing. At the moment, police won’t speculate on the motive of the shooter. All we know is he was a tournament competitor who killed two fellow gamers and then himself. The event was one of the qualifiers for the Madden Classic event, hosted by game publisher Electronic Arts. CEO Andrew Wilson today announced the company would be putting its other Madden qualifiers on hold “while we run a comprehensive review of safety protocols for competitors and spectators.” He also assured players they would strive for security at all events going forward. Meanwhile, the organizers of the PAX West event, which takes place in Seattle this coming weekend, were questioned on Twitter about the efficacy of their own safety measures. As reported by PC Gamer, they responded that, while they wouldn’t reveal the extent of their security measures, they were working with local police to ensure attendees could move about without fear. The shooting in Jacksonville is especially shocking for how it strips the innocence and sense of safety from such an event. It was a Madden tournament, held inside a pizza joint. How many times have all of us attended similar events in perfect serenity, content in the knowledge that, even if the people weren’t familiar, our common interests were? But the pro gamers who attend these events are now saying that sense of community is no longer sufficient. Soon after the event, gamers and streamers began speaking out about the need for better security. Ronald Casey, one of the tournament players who shielded younger gamers with his body, told Fox 45 the Madden tourney had no security, and he was only thankful the killer hadn’t brought a bigger gun: Other esports teams are encouraging organizers to invest in security. Jason Lake, founder of the compLexity Gaming team, said in a series of tweets that the event was a “wake up call.” CompLexity gamer Drini Gjoka was at the event and among the wounded. And perhaps it was. Ben Spoont, owner of the Misfits Gaming organization, told the Wall Street Journal this has prompted the adoption of bag checks and metal detectors at any future tourneys he has a hand in. But he also added, “To actually feel a need to make sure someone doesn’t have a weapon, that’s not been a primary concern in the past.” Unfortunately, we can’t go back to that time of naivety — not if we want to keep our fellow gamers safe. C9 Explained

You may have seen someone type “C9” or “C9 LUL” in chat after a lost point, and you might be wondering what that means. C9 is when the fight is won but they lose the point anyway due to getting off of it or not having anyone on it in the first place because they were overcommitting to the fight and not committing to the point itself. Cloud 9 (NA) did this 3 TIMES in one pro match vs AFB. Most famous one is where they all ran off the point because a D.Va self destruct and lost it. They had a Winston. Below is the match where the C9 meme originated and the timestamps. 21:23 24:50 1:09:23 C9 has evolved into a term for getting off the point in overtime or giving away a free capture. Usually for stupid reasons. This next one is a C9 from pro team Immortals (now LA Valiant). It’s frankly beautiful to watch the perfect coordination of D.Va and Winston both getting off the payload at the same time. https://clips.twitch.tv/CooperativeFastBoarBatChest This one (vs. C9 EU) was from GamersOrigin, they got off the point in overtime because they were scared of a Sombra EMP. dos Retribution

    Version

    0 downloads

The plot: as the name implies, fight to avenge the fallen of your race that have been ?harvested? by the evil Krellans (no relation to Star Fleet games). Cutscenes and digitized speech both add to the atmosphere, but unfortunately the plot doesn?t get better than the very simplistic kill-the-aliens premise. Between missions, you can wander around in the base talking to different characters (who look remarkably similar to pilots in Wing Commander 1), who often have tips or info on the backstory. The writing is sub-par, however, making these ?interactive scenes? little more than a waste of space. The good news is that true to Gremlin?s reputation as developer of some of the best in-game 3D graphics, the 3D landscapes in Retribution are very smooth and detailed, with good gouraud-shading effects similar to NovaLogic games. Gremlin touted their technology as ?logi-scape real time landscape generating technology incorporating new "Deep Horizon' format,? and the results are great to look at. Retribution is a very challenging game that gets very hard very fast. With eleven major campaigns, each with 4 highly strategic missions, and 8 training missions to enhance performance, Retribution will keep the most expert of pilots occupied for some time. Recommended, but only for veteran gamers who are looking for a furious space combat game without the need for an engaging plot.

    dos Jungle Strike

    Version

    0 downloads

In Jungle Strike you're mainly controlling the prototype helicopter "Comanche". In some missions, you can also use a hovercraft, a motorbike, or a F117 fighter. The controls in this shoot-em up are very easy and straightforward. As in most arcade shooters, you must collect new ammo, armor and fuel while fighting land, sea, and air-based enemies. In a nod to hard-core flight sims, all missions contain several sub-objectives, which have to be fulfilled in a given order. Most missions are set in either a jungle or city area. With a good combination of arcade and sim elements, Jungle Strike is highly recommended for fans of the genre. If you like Safari's games (e.g. Seek & Destroy) but wish they were more sim-oriented in terms of having mission objectives and depletable fuel, Desert Strike is the answer.

dos Desert Strike - Return to the Gulf

    Version

    0 downloads

An isometric-view heli-shooter, not bad at all - just leave out the idiotic story. That banal premise has probably been played to death by the many follow-ups, without adding anything to the game. Despite cliche premise (part of the war effort in the Gulf, yada yada yada), the game is a lot of fun. Your helicopter has various weapons and a winch, which can be used to pickup ammo, fuel, armor, and even POW's. Missions range from rescue to seek and destroy, and the game switches objectives often enough that it never becomes boring. The maps are huge, and full of interesting power-ups, secrets, and various ground-based enemies. You can blow up most things, including buildings, and the graphics are superior to most games at the time. Overall, a great game for all fans of shooters which might even appeal to flight sim gamers. The successor Jungle Strike is also available at this site.

    windows Jazz Jackrabbit 3

    Version

    1 download

Jazz Jackrabbit 3 (alternatively called Jazz Jackrabbit 3D: Adventures of a Mean Green Hare) is the cancelled game of the series. Spearheaded by Dean "Noogy" Dodrill (an animator for Jazz Jackrabbit 2) and coded by World Tree Games, it was being developed for the original Unreal Engine technology in 1999. As the game's alternate name implies, Jazz would have venture into the realm of 3D for the first time. The game was planned for release on PC and PlayStation 2. Development of the game was ceased part way through in May 2000 as Epic MegaGames was unable to find a publisher. Since then, the alpha has been leaked on to the internet. Besides Jazz, other characters such as Spaz and Lori were intended to be playable, but in the alpha, only Jazz is playable. Following the events of Jazz Jackrabbit 2, Jazz Jackrabbit and his wife, Eva Earlong, settle down in Carrotus Castle and become parents. Devan Shell, the main antagonist of the series, kidnaps their children, taking them into an alternate universe via the time machine from the previous game. Jazz Jackrabbit 3 is a third-person shooter with platforming and adventure game elements. The mouse is used to aim and shoot, while the keyboard moves Jazz around the world. Jazz can fire his weapon, or charge up a more powerful shot. Jazz's arsenal can be expanded using coins collected to purchase new weapons and combine them with Elemental "Dream Cells" to create various weapon effects. In the alpha, only Fire and Ice Dream Cells can be acquired, and usable with two guns (the standard Blaster and the Gizmo Gun). When Jazz moves around in a level, he leaves a trail of footprints on the ground. Unlike the previous installments, Jazz Jackrabbit 3 has no levels. Rather, it is divided into sections, similar to Super Metroid. At specific points in a map, the player can travel back and forth between these sections. Each new area that is visited is prefaced by its name.

    dos The Orion Conspiracy

    Version

    0 downloads

Divide by Zero’s third adventure release is an uneven space opera that has interesting puzzles and plot– marred by a huge amount of gratuitous violence and prafanity that may turn many players off. Played in the third person through an extremely linear path, Orion’s plot revolves around your character’s investigation of the death of his son at a research station in deep space. Other, more farfetched (or derivative) plot elements come into play later in the game. Much of the backstory is provided in a nifty little graphic novel packaged with the game, entitled “Devlin’s Story”. Other information, as well as comprehensive installation notes, are included in a well-presented game manual. Even with these aids, however, it was difficult to free up enough low DOS memory to run the game with sound card support. Orion does not identify how much free memory it requires, so there may be some trial and error in fine-tuning the game for best operation. To allow the game to run in less conventional memory, several command-line switches are suggested, which apparently display the screens at a slightly-lower resolution and offer automatic (but slow) scrolling at the screen edges. The point-and-click user interface performs satisfactorily, with hotspots identified on the screen and possible object interactions displayed with the right mouse button. This “giveaway” of information on how you can act upon objects may make the game puzzles rather predictable and easy. On the other hand, you may find yourself spending the majority of gameplay merely moving your character from one station destination to another – often a very time-consuming process since no “zip” mode or shortcuts have been provided and access points seem arbitrarily restricted from each other. We’ll suspend our disbelief about the amount of gravity on a 10-acre asteroid.
